- Erlends 1:40 bass arpeggio in ripsaw resentment just rips!!!

Erlend: thats just basic dim-tapping up and down, using pointy and pinky on the right hand and hammerons with the left. no arpeggios there. But if youre interested in sweeping, I can show you a simple pattern that I use in alot of variations.

I use all four fingers on the right hand when i sweep across all four strings, and rake back with my fuckoff-finger. Which is something I find to be most efficient. 3 fingers is also very possible,.but it will not flow as easily

Also, in the vein of the tapping sequence on ripsaw, here`s an example that`s a bit more advanced, using all 3 fingers on the right hand.

-how are you hitting each note so hard with your left hand on the diminished video its like your slaping but with only the left hand..thats really interesting, do you have a certain technique to do that?

Erlend:

Well, the example is not amplified, so im hitting as hard as I can. But a nice way to build up strength in the left hand is putting a pencil under the 12th fret and try to play riffs you usually do. Do this for a period of time, remove it and try to play the same riffs again. You will feel things will flow alot easier at once. Its the Bill Dickens way to build up strength. I use it from time to time when I encounter stuff where i have to perform hammerons with the left, and try to make it sound like im hitting the string with my right.
